CUPE is looking at expanding its inventory of qualified candidates to fill short and long-term temporary assignments that may arise from time to time, at National Office in Ottawa, and in its numerous offices across the country.

Temporary specialist and servicing representative opportunities

Candidates should have demonstrated experience and relevant education in the specialized fields of Communications, Legal, Equality, Research, Health and Safety, Job Evaluation or Adult Education. Candidates interested in servicing assignments should, among other things, have experience and knowledge of the collective bargaining process, interpreting contract language, grievance procedures, arbitrations, organizing, etc.

All candidates must have knowledge, experience and commitment to the trade union movement, be familiar with issues that unions are faced with, possess excellent oral and written communications skills, and be able to effectively work with people at all levels within the union, government, and other organizations.

Candidates should have extensive knowledge and experience, have a university degree or certification in the related field, or a combination of relevant education and direct work experience, and be free to travel and able to work weekends, as required.

Starting salary is $1,703 per week, plus excellent benefits.

Temporary clerical, secretarial and administrative opportunities

Candidates should have extensive knowledge and experience in general office work/procedures, an ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines while working in a fast paced environment. 

Candidates should have above average English and/or bilingual oral and written skills, as well as excellent computer skills and advanced knowledge of various computer software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.  

Salaries vary with position. 

Minimum starting salary is $1,033 per 30-hour work week.
