CUPE 7000 to send Valentine greeting to Southern Railway

NEW WESTMINSTER—Locked -out members of CUPE 7000 will be sending a Valentine’s Day greeting to Southern Railway with a public rally to take place outside the company’s service yard in New Westminster.

The rally, which will start at 12 noon on Saturday, February 14, is aimed at raising public awareness of the lockout among Quayside residents. Hosted by CUPE 7000 President Bill Magri, the event will feature speakers including NDP MLAs Judy Darcy (New Westminster) and Shane Simpson (Vancouver Hastings). Secretary-Treasurer Paul Faoro and General Vice-President Trevor Davies will bring greetings on behalf of CUPE BC.

The event will take place at the corner of Quayside Drive near Laguna Court, just beside the Southern Railway service yard (see map) where CUPE BC’s Community Events Trailer will be parked.

Parking in the area is limited, so attendees are encouraged to park at the New Westminster Quay or take the Skytrain to New Westminster Station and take the short walk from there to the rally site.
