BURNABY—Sunday, Oct. 16 a balloon rally in support of stopping cuts to community living programs across B.C. will be held at the Vancouver Public Library (350 West Georgia Street) at 11 am.
The grassroots, parent-led initiative to fight CLBC has organized this event to fight back against the cuts made to community living programs across B.C. They will have flyers on hand as well as a petition that members are encouraged to sign.
If you plan on attending please bring a helium balloon. The idea behind the rally is to release the balloons at noon to show support for both community living and community social services.
CUPE represents 2,500 workers in B.C.'s Community Social Services sector. Community social services workers provide childcare for families, support children and adults with developmental disabilities, counter domestic and sexual violence, conduct parenting courses, assist immigrants and refugees, provide community employment training, deliver services to youth, coordinate housing for seniors, and assist people with mental health and addiction issues.
