REVELSTOKE—The City of Revelstoke and members of CUPE 363, municipal workers, have ratified a four-year collective agreement. CUPE 363 ratified the agreement on Saturday, March 5 and the City ratified on Tuesday, March 8.
“I’m extremely happy with this co-operative partnership with CUPE,” says Revelstoke Mayor David Raven.
The new agreement includes wage increases of 1.25 per cent in each of the first two contract years and 1.5 per cent in the last two years of the four-year agreement. The agreement, which was a major rewrite of the existing contract, also includes improvements to benefits.
“Although this agreement took a long time to finalize, the process was very positive,” says CUPE 363 president Jesse Adam. “This was a constructive, joint effort in problem solving that has created even better labour relations. We look forward to continuing to provide Revelstoke residents with quality public services.”
The new agreement is in effect from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2013.
CUPE 363 represents approximately 85 members who provide a wide variety of municipal services in Revelstoke including snow removal and road maintenance; parks and recreation; arena and aquatics centre; sewer and water; garbage collection; as well as administrative services like bylaws; building inspection; finance, engineering and planning departments; and services at the RCMP detachment.
