VICTORIA - Members of CUPE Local 947 voted to ratify a collective agreement with School District 61 (Victoria) last night.
CUPE Local 947 served strike notice on Wednesday, January 15th and met until late in the day on Friday, January 17th achieving a settlement and averting job action.
With the CUPE Local 947 ratification, all 57 CUPE K-12 BC Locals now have collective agreements in place until June 30, 2014. CUPE is now preparing for the next round of bargaining, and will be paying close attention to the BC budget on February 18th. The challenge for all school districts remains lack of funding by the BC Government to provide students the resources they need.
