NORTH VANCOUVER DISTRICT—After a year of bargaining, approximately 135 library workers who are members of CUPE 389 have reached a settlement with the North Vancouver District Library on a first collective agreement.
Negotiations for the contract, which will cover library workers at three branches throughout the district, began on June 20 last year and ended on June 5 (Friday).
“Our objective in entering this round of bargaining was to achieve terms and conditions similar to those enjoyed by our members working at North Van City Library and at the District of North Vancouver,” said CUPE 389 president Cindy McQueen. “I am happy to say that we have achieved this goal. We are pleased to welcome these workers into our Local, and we look forward to working with the members and the employer so that we can continue to provide quality services for library patrons in North Vancouver District.”
Terms of the agreement will be released after the ratification vote on June 28.
