Battered Women’s Support Services local to join aboriginal social workers strike

VANCOUVER—Members of CUPE 1936 who work for Battered Women’s Support Services will be joining Aboriginal Service workers in solidarity tomorrow (December 4) for a strike action at the eastside office of Vancouver Aboriginal Child and Family Services Society (VACFSS).

Community social services workers target Minister of Children and Families

SURREY—Caring not-for-profit community workers who provide counselling, mental health, transition housing, but also family, children and immigrant services in Surrey are on strike today.

Striking workers have a message for Surrey-Panorama MLA Stephanie Cadieux: stop putting vulnerable families last! Striking workers will be protesting at Cadieux’s office at #120 – 5455 152nd Street in Surrey from 11am to 1pm.

Caring professionals at agencies in Terrace and the Kootenays striking this week

BURNABY—Caring professionals at agencies that support children and adults with developmental disabilities and provide numerous other community services continued strike actions this week, with an action in Terrace on Tuesday (Nov. 6) and the Kootenays today and tomorrow (Nov. 7-8). Striking community social services workers picket Liberal MLA Horne’s office

PORT MOODY—CUPE members were among the large, multi-union group of community social services workers who took their job action to BC Liberal MLA Douglas Horne’s office yesterday.

The four-hour protest, which drew honks of support from passing motorists, called on the BC Liberal government to stop putting vulnerable families last and to start funding the sector properly.

Caring professionals from three agencies striking in Tri-Cities today

BURNABY—Caring professionals from three agencies that support children and adults with developmental disabilities and provide numerous other community services are on strike today (November 1) in Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam. The striking workers, including members of CUPE 1936, will be protesting outside BC Liberal MLA Douglas Horne’s office at 130 Brew Street, Port Moody from 10:30am to 1pm.
