Bargaining update for CUPE Community Social Service members

BURNABY— The Community Social Services Bargaining Association (CSSBA) bargaining committee tasked with negotiating a new collective agreement for Social Services members met with the employers’ group (CSSEA -Community Social Services Employers' Association) on June 1, 2010.

The parties exchanged feedback on the proposals tabled last week. The government’s CSSEA has tabled a concessionary package that offers no monetary gains.

CUPE school staff give notice to bargain

BURNABY—CUPE locals representing staff in the public education system have served notice to open bargaining with their employers. Collective agreements covering over 26,000 workers in school districts throughout the province expire on June 30.

The CUPE BC K-12 Presidents’ Council served formal notice today to the BC Public School Employers’ Association on behalf of member locals.

Employer accepts CSS joint union bargaining team call to bargain

The Community Social Services Bargaining Association (CSSBA) has invited the employer group, the Community Social Services Employers’ Association (CSSEA), to commence bargaining on Thursday, May 13, 2010 in Richmond.

The CSSBA expects the first meeting will entail establishing a protocol agreement and setting dates and locations for a full exchange of proposals for the Community Living Services and General Services collective agreements.

Good news also comes in threes

HOPE – CUPE 458 members have reached a new collective agreement with the Fraser Valley Regional District.

The workers at Hope District Recreation and Cultural Services (HDRCS) have ratified a four-year agreement retroactive to January 1, 2008. The contract will expire on December 31, 2011. The new deal includes a three-per-cent wage increase in each year of the contract and an increase in travel allowances and group life insurance.

Health science professionals’ talks focus on job evaluation

Two UBC locals ready for bargaining

VANCOUVER —Support workers in CUPE locals 116 and 2950 at the University of British Columbia have served notice for bargaining.

The two locals represent 3,600 workers in trades, custodial, food services, clerical, library, technicians, and support workers at the Chan centre. They join university support workers in other CUPE locals across the province whose contracts expire today (March 31). CUPE university workers' locals are coordinating their independent bargaining efforts through CUPE’s Universities Coordinated Bargaining Committee.
