CUPE Community Health website launched

BURNABY—CUPE community health workers in B.C. have launched new a website to help keep members informed during bargaining. 

Members will find bargaining updates here as well as information about their current collective agreement and useful links to other websites.

Fraser Valley Regional District workers ratify three-year deal

FRASER VALLEY REGIONAL DISTRICT—CUPE Local 458 workers have ratified a new three-year collective agreement.

The Regional District workers and the employer, with the help of mediator Debbie Cameron, have a new contract which runs until December 31, 2013.  Included in the package are wage increases of 2 per cent (2011), 1.5 per cent (2012) and 1.5 per cent (2013).

BURNABY—The third week of Community Health bargaining ended last week after three days of meetings between the Community Bargaining Association (CBA) and the Health Employers Association of BC. 

The CBA tabled proposals on occupational health and safety, which included specific proposals on aggressive behaviour, investigation of accidents and working alone or in isolation and communicable diseases.

Progress continues on CUPE K-12 bargaining

BURNABY– In December, the Canadian Union of Public Employees, representing 26,000 members in B.C.’s public school system, reached a tentative Provincial Framework Agreement with the BC Public School Employers’ Association. That agreement (July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2012) was overwhelmingly endorsed by CUPE’s K-12 Presidents’ Council.

As of February 17, 2012, 15 locals have ratified their agreements. In total, 37 locals have either ratified agreements or reached tentative settlements.
